These four subjects vary among students depending on their course choice. In certain cases, science courses may require the same four subject combinations while commercial and art courses do require different subject combinations.

Take, for example, a science student pursuing a Pharmacy will choose during Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration and write during exams in English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

A commercial student pursuing Accounting will choose and sit for English, Mathematics, Economics, and Accounting. While your art counterpart chasing Law will choose and sit for English, Literature-in-English, Government and CRS/IRS, or any other art subject.

Shown above are just three examples of different subject combinations for different courses. Before proceeding it is advised for candidates to make enquires about their rightful subject combination.

Use of English is compulsory and Generally subject to All Candidates Irrespective of their Courses. It doesn't matter whether you're a science, commercial, or art student. It doesn't matter whether you're proposing Pharmacy, Law Economics, Geology, or Linguistics, you must write Us of English in UTME.

The Use of English is central to all courses. This is why if you check your Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) brochure, JAMB won't even bother to include English in the subject requirements for your proposed course.

Instead, the brochure will only state the other three subjects relevant to your proposed course.

You will need to study the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) brochure to avoid errors in the other three subjects' selection and you'll be tested on the four subjects during the exam.
